Family has been very much on my mind lately. Maybe it was attending my family reunion. Maybe I’m just mellowing. (Naw! That can’t be it.) This last week or so, I have taken notice of a couple of true Foxes. Maybe it’s just the fact that I have been inundated with Hounds for so long, I forgot to appreciate or even take notice of the Foxes. There have been at least two. That constitutes a plethora, in the Hound/ Fox ratio.
I work with a funny, charismatic young Man that I believe has all the ear marks of being counted among the great, in the realm of Foxdom. He regales us with the most hysterical tales. He is a tall, extremely handsome young man, that just flat out reeks of charm. He works in an area where He does a lot of customer service. A lot of those customers are women. Older women.
He came in one day, shaking His head with incredulity. He had helped an older customer put some items into her car. She reached over when He was finished and patted His bum in a football style “atta boy”.
A few weeks later, He comes in, quite indignant exclaiming, “I swear, women in their sixties and seventies have NO morals!” It seems that His “tip” that day, was being flashed by a sixty-plus year old, tattooed ex-biker kind of vixen. Right in the parking lot. In front of God and everybody. Fully exposed breast, wide smile, sly wink. I think You get the picture.
One day last week, He was in a strangely somber mood. Not His usual jovial self. It seems while He was working, a woman brushed against Him in the most intimate of places. From His reaction, I think brush is understating it just a tad. My first reaction was, “welcome to the club, Honey.” Women have had to deal with this type of blatant disrespect since God was a Boy.
He was so upset over it, I thought it deserved a closer examination of His reaction. My second thought was, “I’m not getting this. Most Guys would revel in this.” They would be envious of this type of attention. And then it hit me. Holy cow, this young man isn’t like “most” guys! He would never dream of acting in such a fashion toward a woman, and therefore, couldn’t understand being subjected to it. Truly an epiphany of epic proportions.
Here is a well known secret. One of the most vicious, malicious critters to grace God’s green earth, can be a jealous vixen. Like all emotions, people vary in the degrees that they indulge them, some control them better than others. The afore mentioned Fox had taken a fancy to an exquisite lil vixen. She was thinkin He was mighty fine, too. A few others had noticed Mr. Foxy Boy as well.
Exquisite Miss Vixen was quite sad one morning. It seems that someone she thought was her friend, had been given a good dose of the “green-eyed meanies”. She was hurt and confused by this, which is totally understandable. If these ’g.e.m.’ vixens were truly her friends, they would have been rejoicing with her in her happiness, instead of trying to make her feel bad. Two things one cannot defend against, slander and jealousy. Unfortunately, lots of times, they walk hand-in-hand. A jealous vixen is a cruel vixen.
We chatted for a wee bit about the situation and I was pretty sure she felt better about it afterward. The next morning, Mr. Foxy Boy stops by and thanks me for talking with her. I told Him there was no need for thanks. He said the conversation with Exquisite Miss Vixen from the day before had indeed helped her. He looked at the floor and sadly shook His head saying, “I wish that they could just see how smart and funny and beautiful she is.” I said, “Honey, they can, that’s why they are jealous of her.”
I wish I had a photograph of the look on His face, at that moment, to give to her. That look said, “I’m so glad that there are other people that can appreciate the specialness of my special vixen.” It warmed my heart to see it. I could tell, that He was going to be the Champion that Exquisite Miss Vixen longed for, and deserved.
I enjoy watching them together. They are a riot. Exquisite Miss Vixen surprised Mr. Foxy Boy and came in to have lunch with Him. Not only did she come in to dine with Him, she had made His lunch and brought it in to Him. She made Him biscuits and gravy. She didn’t have sausage to make the gravy, so she used bratwurst. That’s beside the point. The vixen made His lunch, and brought it in to Him.
Unfortunately for Him, He had filled up on chips and cookies earlier, and wasn’t hungry. This is where the “all the ear marks of a Fox” comment comes in. If He was a fully evolved Fox, He would have dug into those biscuits and bratwurst gravy ravenously, extolling her culinary virtues and resourcefulness (even if it meant bulging eyes and a trip to the wash room in secret later.) I cringed when He said, “But baby, I’m not hungry, I’ll eat them later”.
It was all I could do, to not fall to the floor laughing, when she instantly said, “Fine, forget it, I don’t want You to eat it, now” and started packing it back up in the bag! She asked every one at the table if they wanted them and of course, everyone declined (not that anyone was turned off by the bratwurst, everyone just knew that He really did want them. Later). The whole time He’s saying, “Aww, come on baby, I’ll eat it later” and she’s saying, “I don’t want You to eat it.” Maybe you just had to be there to appreciate this scene, but I thought it was great. It was all very matter of fact and amicable.
They are both so endearing. She is so appreciative, of everything that He does for her. She brags on Him continually. She tells us all the things that He does for her and her family. He of course, being a Fox-Extraordinaire-In-The-Making, brushes it off as, “Aw shucks folks, tweren’t nothing, really.“ He is always looking for new ways, to make her smile, to make her eyes light up (He doesn‘t realize just the mention of His name does that). They give to each other, in equal measure, just in different ways. These two beautiful young people and their blossoming relationship is a miracle to behold.
Mr. Foxy Boy is a laugh a minute. He call tell a hundred jokes an hour. He keeps everyone laughing and they appreciate His humor greatly. I wonder how many people see the pain, behind the laughter? I don’t know Him very well, but there seems to be a deep sadness under the laughter. There is a feeling there, that maybe the world hasn’t always been kind to Him, but He is strong in spirit, and gentle in His ways. I believe He is the type to be easily wounded, but would never show it. He combats it with laughter, and trying His best, every day, to ease the burdens of others by trying to replace it with humor. That’s true generosity, and He does an excellent job of it.
Exquisite Miss Vixen, is a stunning beauty with a bold brassy way about her (gotta admire a girl like that!). She absolutely shines when she enters a room. I don’t know her well either, but I get the same feel from her that I do Him. She has had her share of pain and heartache as well. She hides hers under a devil-may-care attitude that tells the world, ‘accept me as I am, or kiss my booty.’ There is also a feel of an unspoken ’please, please accept me’. She has that open-hearted, generous feel about her, that longs to be accepted and appreciated for her own beautiful and unique self. She has that tough exterior that says, “I don’t care if you do or not”, but that sweet gentle inner pleading that begs acceptance.
First and foremost, one gets the impression that they are friends. The very best of friends. They enjoy each others company. They compliment each other well. They sparkle when they are alone, they are absolutely brilliant when they are together.
There is still hope for the world, with such lovely young foxes gracing us with their presence. Best of luck to them both. Always.
Til next time... Love, sassy v

My Valentine
- Martina McBrideIf there were no words
No way to speak
I would still hear you
If there were no tears
No way to feel inside
I'd still feel for you
And even if the sun refused to shine
Even if romance ran out of rhyme
You would still have my heart
Until the end of time
You're all i need
My love, my valentine
All of my life
I have been waiting for
All you give to me
You've opened my eyes
And showed me how to love unselfishly
I've dreamed of this a thousand times before
In my dreams i couldnt love you more
I will give you my heart
Until the end of time
You're all i need
My love, my valentine
La da da
Da da da da
And even if the sun refuse to shine
Even if romance ran out of rhyme
You would still have my heart
Until the end of time
Cuz all i need
Is you, my valentine
You're all i need
My love, my valentine
